Columbia classes canceled and campus closed through Monday, Sept. 17
The University of South Carolina Columbia campus will remain closed and classes are canceled through Monday, Sept. 17. At this time, university officials anticipate campus will resume normal operations, including all classes, on Tuesday, Sept. 18. These projections are in concert with those of Richland County government.
As a state agency, UofSC is required to follow the delay and closing schedule of the county government. However, the schedule is subject to change depending on conditions following this weekend’s weather and instruction from Gov. McMaster. For more information and the latest on the developing severe weather situation, please check back.
Essential personnel should continue to report to campus.
Essential student services including housing, food service and the Student Health Center will continue to operate. USC reminds students who may be traveling home to exercise caution and closely monitor weather forecasts. If you do leave campus, please check out with a resident mentor.
At this time, the Columbia area is not included in the evacuation order and we do not anticipate a need for students to leave. The University of South Carolina is encouraging students, faculty and staff to stay at home and stay off the roads as the evacuation of the state’s coastal region proceeds. Always obey all emergency personnel, signs, etc.
